A series of mysterious music clips uploaded to YouTube over the last week have been viewed hundreds of thousands of times and have bloggers excitedly guessing which artist is behind it. Is it pop princess Christina Aguilera? Scandinavian electronic duo The Knife? Or perhaps it’s a viral campaign to launch some hitherto unknown artist?
Four clips have been uploaded so far by a user called “iamamiwhoami”, the longest is 82 seconds and the shortest runs at 63 seconds. The clips are dark, weird and show a muddy-faced blonde singer. The music, meanwhile, is electronic and nods towards the experimental without being too alienating. The title of each clip is a simple numerical code, the latest of which spells “Mandragora”.
